bowling for the soup

This is a traditional soup of Indonesia that taste is sour and delicious, let's try to cook it!


Clear Sour Soup


Ingredients;
  • 2 candlenuts
  • 4 shallots
  • 2 garlics
  • 1 chili
  • 4 cms galangal
  • 2 salam leaves
  • 1 teaspoon palm sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind water

Vegetables:

  • Long beans, cut 4 cms
  • 1 medium chayote ( labu siam; Indonesian) cut cube
  • 100 grms young jackfruit, shreded
  • 2 medium corn, cut 5 cms
  • 1/2 ons melinjo leaves and melinjo nuts
  • 1 dinnerspoon peanut

Cooking methods;
  • Grind with grinder stone candlenut, shallots and chili
  • Boil with 600 ml water, add galangal and salam leaves
  • Add palm sugar, tamarind water and salt
  • Add vegetables, cook till tender
  • Ready to be served with steamed rice
